Let us also not forget that as late as a few months ago, and after seeing that the continuous adverse reports against him, for failing to disclose the October 2016 surprise, would not die down and that they did adversely affect donations to Wikileaks, Assange either threw Stone under the bus or pretended to throw Stone under the bus, by claiming, in a suspect late manner, that he did not make such a disclosure announcement and that Stone did it on his own..
Of course, Assange was not believed and looked very bad because :
1-Assange did not make this claim in a timely manner immediately after the world criticized him for failing to deliver the October 2016 surprise,..
2-Assange did not even make this claim from October 2016 until about A YEAR LATER,...Duhhhhh
3-Assange did not even reference the Wikileaks Schedule as his defense, which never showed that he would disclose a bombshell October surprise; which only showed that an announcement of celebrating a 10 year celebration of Wikileaks. We all presume that such a fact was not added into the Wikileaks Schedule after the fact for damage control purposes. It only takes a minute or two to add something like this into the Wikileaks Schedule

Stone may be the character that he is but I don't think that he would be practically campaigning for the October 2016 disclosure if he did not have first hand information about if from some type of credible Assange linked source. He was campaigning about it in reliance that Assange, who could dispute him and humiliate him publicly, would not do so. This, in my hiumble opinion, shows a mutual understanding / agreement between the two.

In my humble opinion, and even though the behind the scenes deal theories have some legs to walk on, I believe that the deal may have been only between Assange and Stone who most likely cooked this up for publicity purposes ...Assange saw this as a platform to promote his books as well as the 10 year anniversary of Wikileaks..There is nothing wrong with seeking publicity if, as in this case, it helps your goals, but Assange could have done it better without insulting the intelligence of his supporters.
The above humble conclusion of mine is further credited by the following undisputed facts:
1-Assange never delivered the Hillary goods that Stone repetitively predicted on the day after or immediately after his alleged communication with Assange, be it via dinner or via email or via other means. Despite these odd events, which would normally result in a rift between the parties, involved, Assange and Stone were praising each other as if a mutually conceived and executed publicity stunt went very well, as planned
2-On Jan 10th 2017, on the live Reddit AMA Interview(ASK ME ANYTHING) and thereafter Assange was seeing shamelessly and proudly bragging that he and Wikileaks were number one in Google searches after the October 2016 surprise failed to materialize and during the time that his supporters worried sick about his safety
3-On same AMA interview Assange evaded answering certain questions that he knew would spice up more interest and google searches for him and his Wikileaks
4-Assange never made any comments against Stone's predictions / declarations about the so called "October 2016 surprise" as if he was enjoying the increasing publicity he and Wikileaks was receiving as a result,..and..further..he did not even come out to the Embassy's balcony or made any formal televised announcements to address the public's increasing concerns about his safety simply because he enjoyed the publicity stunt that he had created with Stone.
